A son’s work. A mother’s care.

Meet Alfredo and his mother

Each load Alfredo carries helps provide for the 83-year-old mother who depends on him.

Alfredo lives with his 83-year-old mother in a mountain community in Guerrero. She lives with a painful condition affecting her spine, and what they have depends largely on what Alfredo can earn.

At the local tianguis, Alfredo uses his wheelbarrow to carry purchases and supplies for vendors and shoppers. Each trip earns him 20 pesos. It is honest, demanding work—but even after many trips, the income is small.

Still, he keeps going. Each load Alfredo carries helps provide food and everyday necessities for the mother who depends on him.

“Thank you for the support we received. We are very grateful.”

When neighbors arrived with food and practical support, the help met an immediate need. Just as importantly, it reminded a devoted son and his mother that they do not have to carry everything alone.

“God will reward you and remember what you have done,” Alfredo said.

No neighbor should carry everything alone.

Kindness still lives here.
