A blessing at the right moment

Meet Marcial

Sometimes help arrives at the precise moment a neighbor needs to know he has not been forgotten.

Marcial lives in a rural community in Guerrero, where reaching and moving through his home means navigating stairs and narrow passageways despite having very limited vision and hearing.

He cannot work or earn a steady income because of these disabilities. His sister and niece help care for him while also raising families of their own, and Marcial worries about being an additional responsibility for them.

The morning Mari visited, Marcial’s cooking gas had run out. He had been eating his food cold. When she told him that neighbors had sent help and placed it in his hands, he began to cry.

“This support is like a blessing from God for those of us who truly need it.”

The support met a practical need, but it carried another message with it: someone had noticed Marcial, cared about what he was facing, and chosen to show up.

“Wherever you may be,” Marcial said, “may everything you have done be multiplied and returned to you.”

Kindness still lives here.
